Forest clearing as a result of settlements built in 1946, as well as construction of a radio transmission station in 1978 resulted in the felling of many trees which adversely affected the woodland’s watershed protection capability. Moreover, use of the transmission station was discontinued in 1999 and it has since dilapidated. Tree planting was implemented to regenerate the forest’s watershed protection characteristics, through a 5-year program consisting of 3 years of planting and 2 years of maintenance.
