Capital Expenditure

Based on a proactive management strategy, the Aeon Group (Aeon Co., Ltd. and its consolidated subsidiaries) is progressing with the consolidation and decommission of its retail outlets in response to changes in the environment surrounding its locations. In the previous fiscal year, the Group made capital expenditures of \551,506 million, mainly in the GMS Business.

Capital Expenditure
  • In the GMS Business, the Group opened 6 new stores and closed 8 existing store, while renovated existing stores to suit the local demographics of each neighborhood. Capital expenditures in the business totaled \122,997 million.
  • In the Supermarket & Discount Store Business, the Group opened 40 new supermarkets and closed 54 existing stores, and opened 43 new discount stores and closed 11 existing stores. Capital expenditures in the business totaled \63,153 million.
  • In Small-sized Store Business, the Group operated 5,261 Ministop stores worldwide as of the end of the previous fiscal year. The Group continued to aggressively open small-size urban My Basket stores, bringing the total to 637 outlets at the end of the fiscal year. Capital expenditures in the business totaled \20,969 million.
  • In the Drugstore & Pharmacy Business, WELCIA HOLDINGS CO., LTD. opened 102 new store and closed 39 store. WELCIA HOLDINGS CO., LTD. aggressively bolstered to build the dominant position and expanding the store sales channels. Capital expenditures in the business totaled \23,880 million respectively.
  • In the Financial Services Business, companies including Aeon Credit Service Co., Ltd. and Aeon Bank, Ltd. continued to invest in a next-generation computer system to facilitate the diversification of customer needs and expanding customer volume. Capital expenditures in the business totaled \58,013 million.
  • In the Shopping Center Development Business, Aeon Mall Co., Ltd. and its consolidated companies opened 4 new shopping centers and refurbished 20 existing shopping centers in Japan. In overseas, the Group opend 2 new shopping cheters. Capital expenditures in the business in Japan and in overseas totaled \151,160 million and \32,825 million respectively.
  • In the Services and Specialty Store Business, Aeon Fantasy Co., Ltd. aggressively opened new outlets and renovated existing outlets. Capital expenditures in the business totaled \26,892 million.
  • In the International Business, the Group opened 6 new GMS stores (3 in China, 2 in Malaysia and 1 in Vietnam), and 14 supermarkets (5 in Thailand, 5 in Vietnam, 3 in China and 1 in Malaysia). Capital expenditures in the business totaled \35,731 million.
  • In Other Operations, the Group bolstered its Digital business. Capital expenditures in the business totaled \1,817 million.
  • Regarding capital investments in the pure holding company and product supply companies, capital investments totaled \14,063 million.

The capital expenditure figures shown above are on a payment basis and include intangible fixed assets, long-term prepaid expenses and fixed leasehold deposits to lessors. Consumption taxes are not included in the figures.
