Aeon Environmental Foundation celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Aeon Environmental Foundation celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with support by numerous people. Taking the opportunity of this milestone year, the Foundation held a commemorative lecture under the theme of “Environment and Health: Contributions from Space” on March 9. The Foundation invited Kiyoshi Higuchi, president of International Astronautical Federation (IAF), who also engages in technology development at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Chiaki Mukai, the first Japanese female astronaut, with a Doctor of Medicine degree, as speakers. Following the lecture, the speakers and the audience had a lively discussion regarding the environment as a familiar issue. Since 1990, when the Foundation was established, it has engaged in an array of activities including organizing tree planting that marked a total of 11 million tree plantation in which the Foundation was involved in, providing a support for environmental conservation groups, establishing the Awards for Biodiversity, as well as educating and nurturing environmental leaders for the next generation in Japan and across the world. Aeon continues to take an active role in promoting diverse environmental initiatives aiming to hand down the green planet to the children of the future generation.
