Beautiful Planet for the Future.Learning and Exchange Transcend National Borders.

The fifth Asian Students Environment Platform was held with participation of 84 university students from seven Asian countries, the greatest number of participants ever.

AEON Environmental Foundation has hosted the Asian Students Environmental Platform (ASEP) annually since 2012 with the aim of developing human resources capable of contributing in environmental fields on the global stage. This year, the Platform was held under the theme of “Biodiversity and Wisdom” in Japan from August 3 to August 8, when 84 university students from Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam actively exchanged opinions on environmental issues of each country. In Hokkaido, the students learned about how to coexist with nature including deepening their understanding about ecosystem in the sea, river, and forest through observing wild animals and plants in Shiretoko Peninsula which is UNESCO World Heritage, and conducting tree-planting in Nijibetsu, Shibecha-cho. On the final day, they made a group presentation on what they had learned through the program based on this year’s theme. Aeon continues to provide environmental education for young people so that this beautiful planet remains for the next generation.
