Preserving the Blessings of Nature through Shopping
Passing the Baton of Affluent Food Supply to the Future

Aeon announced its Sustainable Procurement Policy for 2020
to further expand the procurement of environmentally friendly products.

In pursuit of sustainable management, Aeon implements various initiatives to preserve biodiversity, and has been promoting the procurement of environmentally friendly products. In April 2017, Aeon formulated the Aeon Sustainable Procurement Policy, and set the Sustainable Procurement Goals for 2020 based on the Policy. As an example, in 2006, the company became the first Asian retailer to sell marine products certified by MSC* as being caught using sustainable fishing methods, and in 2014, also began selling ASC*-certified products aquacultured in an environmentally and eco-friendly manner. Subsequently in 2015, these certified products are permanently offered in a section called FishBaton. This section is currently installed in over 50 general merchandise stores, and the goal for 2020 is for all of the Group’s supermarkets to acquire MSC/ASC Chain of Custody (CoC) certification for the distribution and processing of authenticated products. Aeon continues to promote environmental conservation activities together with the customers by proposing “eco” initiatives that customers can participate through everyday shopping. *MSC: Marine Stewardship Council ASC: Aquaculture Stewardship Council
