As part of Indonesia’s remarkable economic growth in recent years, development of coastal regions in northern Jakarta is well underway, and the withering of mangrove tress that act as a natural breakwater along the coast has become a problem. By planting mangroves in marshlands along the coast in northern Jakarta, we hope to protect the nearby residential neighborhoods and highway from natural disasters such as floods, as well as help to regenerate the lush greenery along the shoreline. A 3-year program is currently underway.
