The MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity 2010 Award Ceremony

The Award Ceremony of the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity was held at the Japan Minister's reception of the high-level segment of the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10) on October 27, Japan.

Wooden plaques and a prize of one hundred thousand US dollars were awarded to each recipient. For the recipient of the Special Prize for the International Year of Biodiversity, a wooden plaque and a prize of five hundred thousand US dollars were awarded.

In conjunction with the MIDORI Prize, the Environment Minister Prize was presented to each recipient by Mr. Matsumoto, Japan's Minister of the Environment. Dr. Ursula Heinen-Esser, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Government of Germany, accepted the both prizes on behalf of Chancellor Merkel.
