Prof. Noriko Takemoto was born in 1953, in Tokyo, Japan.  She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the Department of Education, Waseda University in 1976, and obtained a diploma at St. Catherine's College in Kobe, University of Oxford in 1992.

 

Prof. Takemoto has held various positions including Director of the Information System Department, Cataloghouse Ltd. and “Eco-hiiki” Division President at The Japan Direct Marketing Association (JADMA).  She has engaged in CSR implementation such as promotion of natural energy in cooperation with NPOs.  Since 2008, she has served as Professor by Special Appointment of the Ecosystem Adaptability Global COE, Tohoku University.  Being involved in the establishment of an industry-private-academia consortium of environmental institutions, she has engaged in the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems.  Since 2011, she has engaged in the management of the Secretariat for “The Tohoku Green Renaissance Project.”  Also, she is in charge of coordinating a professional ecosystem manager education program for Ph.D. students.

 

She holds positions including Representative Director of Natural Step Japan, Chairperson of the Business Model Development Projects for environmental NGOs, Member of the Guideline Committee for the Business and Biodiversity, Steward of the Sustainability Communication Network, and Trustee of the Green Purchasing Network.

 

Prof. Takemoto’s major books include: Kankyo-gijyutsu-kakushin no Saizensen (in Japanese, “Forefront of the Innovation of Environmental Technologies”) (2003, co-author, Nikkagi Renkan), Kigyo ga torikumu “Seibutsu-tayousei” Nyumon (in Japanese, “Guide to ‘Biodiversity’for Businesspersons”) (2010, co-author, Management Center of the Japan Management Association), and Chikyu-ondanka to Green-keizai (in Japanese, “Global Warming and Green Economy”) (2012, co-author, Japan Productivity Center).
