Freelance Newscaster

Ms. Christel Takigawa was born in France in 1977.  She graduated from the Faculty of Literature, Aoyama Gakuin University.

 

She started her career as a freelance newscaster after serving as anchorwoman of the Japanese news TV program FNN News Japan between 2002 and 2009.  Now she appears on many programs including “NIPPON EXPRESS SAUDE! SAUDADE… (J-WAVE),”and “Global Debate WISDOM (NHK BS1).”  She holds several positions such as advisor of WWF Japan and goodwill ambassador of Medecins du Monde.

 

In the wake of the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10) in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan in 2010, she has been engaged in an awareness campaign of biodiversity as member of the Life on Earth Supporters' Club by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment.  She has had a strong interest in conserving biodiversity ever since she listened to the speech “If you don't know how to fix it, please stop breaking it!“ given by 12-year-old Ms. Severn Cullis-Suzuki at the Earth Summit in Rio in 1992. 

 

In 2013, she was awarded Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the Government of France.  She has contributed to the 2020 Summer Olympic/Paralympic Games in Tokyo as an Ambassador of “Cool Tokyo.”

 

Her recent books include: Ikimonotachi heno Love Letter – Seibutsutayousei no hoshi ni umarete (in Japanese, Love letters to living things – born in a planet of biodiversity, Shogakukan Inc. SJ Mook) and Koisuru Riyuu – Watashi no sukina Parisiennes no ikikata (in Japanese, Reasons of love – My favorite lifestyles of Parisiennes, Kodansha Co., Ltd.).
