In 2005, the prefecture of Fukushima enacted the Prefectural Citizen's Charter of Forest Culture Country: Fukushima to promote prefectural land full of greenery. Due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, however, the environment of the prefecture's forests has changed dramatically. We planted trees with the aim to restore protective coast forests which defend the local community from disasters and seek to return the coast to a verdant state.
