Report on FY2012 Disaster Relief: Aeon Yellow Receipt Campaign

The usual yellow receipt campaign conducted on Aeon Day on the 11th of each month was extended from March 9 to 11 for three days as the Aeon Happy Yellow Receipt Campaign in order to support children in disaster-stricken areas.

The campaign was held on the one year anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake with the idea of delivering well wishes to the children in the disaster-stricken areas, with 23 group companies across Japan participating, including Aeon and MaxValu, for a total of nearly 1,700 locations. Many customers participated, putting receipts totaling 12,000,000,000 yen in the special boxes.
A donation presentation ceremony was held at the Aeon Koriyama Festa location on April 27, 2012. Aeon contributed approximately 120,000,000 yen, equivalent to 1% of the receipt totals. The donation was presented to Save the Children Japan, an organization with a long track record of supporting children in disaster-stricken areas.
We would like to express our sincere thanks for your help.

Donations are used as an "Aeon + Save the Children Disaster Area Child Support Fund" which assists the "Home Start project" and helps keep children health in the three prefectures of Miyagi, Iwate, and Fukushima, which were most severely affected by the disaster.
Long-term living at evacuation shelters in disaster-stricken areas has weakened community connections, leading to many feeling isolated. Even homes with nursery school-aged children (under 6 years) feel intense stress raising children in the unfamiliar environment of the evacuation areas with no connection to those outside. The "Home Start project" is a home visit child-rearing assistance program that sends volunteers to homes with small children to talk to parents and help with housework and childrearing tasks in order to relieve parents' stress and worry.
Through this campaign, Aeon provides support for creating stable home environments and helping children grow into healthy adults so that they can take on the responsibility of rebuilding the disaster-stricken areas.
