Making Aeon IkuBosses
Implementation of the "Aeon IkuBoss Test"
Aeon sets the 19th of every month as "IkuBoss day" and conducts the "Aeon IkuBoss Test" for group managers.
In addition to easily measuring the knowledge and actions required to be an Aeon IkuBoss via computer or a smartphone, by sharing your own IkuBoss declaration with your subordinates, you can "show what you know" and accelerate the creation of Ikubosses.
We aim to have passing the "Aeon IkuBoss Test" become a standard for Aeon Group managers.

The origin of my management lies in my hobby volleyball. I want to liven up the workplace as a "team."
I am very happy to receive the prestigious "Management Category Grand Prize" from the first award ceremony. Volleyball is the most important thing in my life. There are many things that can be applied from playing the sport to work. For example, thinking as a team setter about how to pass something to a unique member is related to management as a store manager in terms of thinking about how to get each person to exert their strengths, so it makes me think a lot.
Also, by considering not only the employees in the workplace but also the family members of the employees, I feel that the workplace is becoming a team where everyone in the store can talk about their family. I would like to keep creating an environment where everyone around me can continue to work happily as I stay aware of changing myself as well, and I would like to use everyone's power to further improve the profit and loss balance of the store.

IkuBoss initiatives to work with local communities and other companies
Initiatives with Chiba City
1. Implementing the "IkuBoss Joint Declaration" between industries, government, and academia for the first time in Japan
In November 2015, Aeon Co., Ltd. made the "IkuBoss Joint Declaration" with Chiba City, Chiba University, and three companies in Chiba City.
In support of Chiba City's goal of creating "the most family-friendly and easy-to-work city in Japan," Aeon Co., Ltd. also strives to promote diversity in collaboration with companies, local governments, and universities in the city to create companies with a good work-life balance.
To commemorate the 1st anniversary of the Joint Declaration, we held the "Chiba IkuBoss Alliance Award 2016." We commended IkuBoss managers who had been selected from each business operator and shared about their initiatives.
2. Holding an IkuBoss cross-industry exchange meeting
In July 2016, the "IkuBoss Joint Declaration" companies and organizations held the "IkuBoss Cross-Industry Exchange Meeting."
We invited Takayuki Kawashima, a director of the NPO Corporation Fathering Japan, as a lecturer to share about what an IkuBoss should look like, and we divided into mixed groups of companies to discuss "human resources development" and "organizational culture."
Initiatives with Mie Prefecture
1. Aeon and Mie governor hold "IkuBoss Promotion Talk"
In November 2015, we held the "IkuBoss Promotion Talk" sponsored by Mie Prefecture at Aeon Cinema Suzuka. This is one of the efforts promoted by Mie Prefecture to promote male participation in childcare, and it was our fifth time holding this event.
On the day of the event, Governor Suzuki of Mie Prefecture and Aeon Group officers shared opinions passionately on balancing work and childcare, and at the end, everyone announced the IkuBoss Declaration.
Approximately 1,000 managers from the Aeon Group nationwide watched by connecting 24 Aeon Cinemas nationwide via the Internet. Everyone learned about creating a work environment that allows people to balance work and childcare.
2. Joining the "Mie IkuBoss Alliance"
In April 2016, Aeon Big Co., Ltd., Aeon Retail Co., Ltd., MaxValu Chubu Co., Ltd., and Ministop Co., Ltd. joined the Mie IkuBoss Alliance.
These four companies agree with Mie Prefecture's goal of "becoming a society where men's participation in childcare and the active participation of women are commonplace, and becoming a Mie Prefecture that is friendly to all families, including child-rearing families," and initiatives towards creating a workplace where both work and childcare can be achieved as well as disseminating the importance of such initiatives to society.
