Aeon's future

Aeon promotes diverse management, because "Aeon will continue on for aeons (which means "eternity" in Latin)."
Aeon sees the promotion of diversity as one of its management strategies, not just as a response to social issues. Our goal is to eliminate discrimination based on nationality, gender, age, physical and mental disabilities, sexual orientation and gender identity, with a basic mindset that focuses on the abilities and achievements of personnel. We want to realize an organization that responds boldly to the everchanging environment and constantly innovates in response to the needs of our customers.
The satisfaction of employees, their families, customers, and the company created by promoting diversity is collectively called "Daimanzoku," and the entire group is engaged in various activities.

Becoming a company where women can work comfortably and play an active role.

At the general meeting of shareholders held in May 2013, Aeon's president (at that time) stated the company's goals of "having a ratio of female managers at 50%," and "becoming a company where women can work comfortably and play an active role. The company in Japan where women want to work the most." Currently, about 9,000 women are active in managerial positions.
Promoting women's advancement is not to solve social problems, but to achieve corporate growth. That is our belief at Aeon.

Becoming a company where you can be yourself.

AEON 's Basic Human Rights Policy states that "We will not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or mental or physical disability." We are working on LGBTQ+ training and ally training, aiming to learn basic knowledge and the latest information on LGBTQ+, create a workplace where each employee can work in their own way, and become an LGBT-friendly company.

Cultivating personnel who can play an active role globally across national borders.

As part of the AEON Group Mid-term Management Plan, one of the four shifts mentioned is a "shift towards Asia" and building up human resources who can play an active role globally. In Asian countries such as Japan, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, we are actively hiring young individuals who will lead the future, and we are promoting international human resource exchanges throughout the group.

Becoming a company where people with disabilities can challenge their own potential.

As part of creating a work environment where everyone can work comfortably, Aeon strives to create an environment where people with disabilities can work with a sense of satisfaction.
Since 2020, we have held monthly online training in collaboration with Abilities Jusco Co., Ltd. *, a special subsidiary for employing persons with disabilities within the Aeon Group. From the original training for managers so far, we have now implemented practical training that anyone can easily take, and with more specialized content. This is an opportunity for many people to learn by expanding to employees who are closer to the field.

*Abilities Jusco Co., Ltd. is a special subsidiary of AEON Co., Ltd. established in 1980, with the management philosophy of "making it normal for people with disabilities to work in society." The company operates three "Scrum" stores, which sell CDs, DVDs, and books, and are run jointly by people with and without disabilities, as well as a total of nine centers that support the transition to and retention of employment for people with disabilities.

Aiming to be a company where everyone can work comfortably and rewardingly.

Aeon is working to create an environment that creates a comfortable company where everyone can play an active role. By promoting work style reforms that utilize digital tools, building an environment where people can work efficiently, and increasing autonomous work style options such as telework, we can accommodate diverse values and flexible work styles. In addition, we keep in mind the original goal of promoting diversity, "everyone can play an active role," and focus on initiatives that support it. We are also focusing on the key "IkuBoss" individuals who manage various organizations and help cultivate their subordinates, leading to results and dispelling unconscious biases.

Aeon's initiatives

Aeon aims to become a "group of diversely managed companies." Group companies are facing the current situation of their own companies and working to resolve their own issues, and by sharing the initiatives of each company, we are accelerating diverse management.
